Treatment options

The allergist picks the right path for you

Your case may need one of these — or a combination, depending on your history.

Single-allergen drops

For patients with one or two clear triggers — pollen, cat dander, dust mite, etc.

Multi-allergen blend

Combined formula for patients with multiple confirmed allergens — most common.

Build on existing immunotherapy

Continue or transition from shots to drops with our allergist supervision.

FAQs

Common questions

How is this different from allergy shots?+
Same goal — desensitize your immune system to specific allergens — but drops are taken at home under the tongue instead of weekly clinic injections. Studies show SLIT is comparably effective for most environmental allergies, with a much lower burden.
How long until I see results?+
Most patients notice fewer symptoms in 3–6 months and significant improvement by 12 months. Full treatment typically runs 3–5 years for long-lasting tolerance.
Do I need allergy testing first?+
Yes — we need to know exactly what you're allergic to. You can upload prior testing (skin or blood IgE), or we can order testing through our partner labs as part of the intake.
Is SLIT covered by insurance?+
Most insurance plans don't yet cover compounded SLIT drops. Many do cover the allergy testing and allergist consult portion. We bill what we can, and the drops themselves are typically out-of-pocket but HSA/FSA eligible.
Can children take allergy drops?+
Yes — children 5 and older can safely take SLIT drops. It's often easier than shots for kids since there are no needles and dosing is done at home with a parent.
